DUBAI // A group of school librarians is putting the spotlight on the Year of Reading by sharing reading programs that have been successfully implemented in their schools across the UAE with eachother.
The ideas range from Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) to bringing in staff from local businesses to spend time reading with weaker students on a one-to-one basis.
“With so many distractions these days, it can be difficult to persuade young people to pick up a book and read but I’m sure the ideas shared here today will tempt many a student to read, even for a short while,” said Margaret Smallpeice, librarian at a school in Al Qusais.
