DUBAI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has called for nationwide brainstorming to encourage reading via the hashtag #ReadingYear. It is hoped to generate ideas on how to encourage a habit of reading among young people.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: “Dear brothers and sisters, ever since the year 2016 was declared the year of reading in the UAE, we have been receiving many ideas and opinions on how to achieve this objective.
“We need nationwide brainstorming via the hashtag ‘ReadingYear’ to come up with the best ideas on how to turn reading into a popular habit among our youth.
“All the ideas brought forth via the hashtag #ReadingYear will be discussed in a conclave held for the top hundred national figures concerned.
“Our aim is to develop a long-term strategy which makes reading a part of the culture, identity and life of our generations.
“We look forward to the contribution of everyone who holds the UAE dear via the hashtag #ReadingYear, even if it is with just one idea,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
