ABU DHABI // A school principal in Liwa has been fired by Abu Dhabi's school regulator for assaulting a grade five pupil by forcibly cutting her hair. Officials from the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) have not yet named the school where the alleged incident took place. The principal was fired after she cut the hair of the girl in front of other pupils following repeated threats to do so.
Mugheer al Khaili, the director general of Adec, gave the order to terminate the principal upon the recommendation of an investigative team headed by Mohammad al Dhaheri, the executive director of school operations at Adec. Dr al Khaili said such behaviour would not be tolerated at public or private schools in the emirate. klewis@thenational.ae
