School fees for low-income expat pupils paid off

The school fees of 61 pupils from low-income expatriate families will be paid off by the Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Affairs.

The pupils each study at a school in Ras Al Khaimah and the money will allow them to continue their education, reported state news agency Wam.

On Monday, the foundation said the pledge to pay off the fees is in line with directives from Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors, who heard of the pupils’ financial struggles on a RAK radio show.

Ahmed Al Zaabi, director general of the foundation, said that Sheikh Ahmed ordered the foundation pay the outstanding school fees which amounted to Dh169,000.
