ABU DHABI // Pupils at Al Rabeeh Private School marked the end of the academic year by performing a flash mob dance in their playground.
The morning assembly was interrupted as the pupils performed a choreographed dance to the song Anything You Can Do, from the Irving Berlin musical Annie Get Your Gun.
Pupils were also given an inspiring talk from Emirati footballer Salem Abdullah, who plays for the Arabian Gulf League team Al Ain, winners of the President’s Cup.
The dance was recorded and posted on YouTube to coincide with the end of year exams.
The video ends with a message from Abdullah encouraging the pupils to stay confident during their exams.
“Exams, whatever the Emtihan [Arabic for exams]. Relax, enjoy, however you can,” was the slogan of the flash mob.
The dance aimed to help relieve the pupils’ stress as they underwent their end-of-year exams.
It also aimed to change the perception of what it means to study.
“This experience has been greatly enriching to me. I was very happy to meet the youth, speak to them, and feel the impact of their school environment. I also felt their happiness, so it was an extraordinary day for me and for them as well,” said Abdullah.
