The company that owns Mall of the Emirates has denied the attempted abduction of a young child took place last week.

In a statement, the Majid Al Futtaim group said: "We can categorically state that no such incident occurred," referring to an alleged incident on January 14 near the Ductac Theatre where a blonde woman was thought to have tried to abduct a child.

The statement said a man and woman had actually helped the child be reunited with its mother.

Police and mall security were not initially contacted but the mother later complained to the mall and police, though no formal complaint was pursued.

“When mall management was approached, every assistance was rendered to the family and we conducted our own investigation of the alleged incident. Our review of the mall’s security tapes clearly substantiate the facts as we have detailed above,” the statement read.
