A police probe has been launched into the death of a boy, 7, in Ajman.
The pupil, identified as Khalifa Al Bloushi, died on Monday after falling ill at Afraa bint Obaid Elementary School.
Police, the public prosecutor's office in the emirate and the Ministry of Education, are investigating the circumstances of the child's death.
In a statement, the Ministry of Education offered its 'deepest condolences' to Khalifa's family.
"We deeply regret the death of a student from a foundation school in Ajman," the Ministry of Education statement said.
"The General Command of Ajman Police is investigating the incident and a committee from the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Education has been formed to determine the circumstances of the death and to take all necessary legal measures.
"The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, calling upon God to grant him mercy. The Ministry of Education is keen to take all possible precautions and procedures to ensure the safety and security of all its students."
Khalifa's uncle, Rashid Mohammed Al Bloushi, said the boy died at home on Monday. He was buried in Al Jurf Cemetery in Ajman after Al Duhur prayer on Tuesday.
"We are awaiting the results of the medical report to clarify the cause of death," said Mr Al Bloushi.
Maj Gen Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Ajman's Police Chief, confirmed the investigation was still ongoing.
"The child died at home on Monday morning and his body was referred to forensics experts to determine the cause of death," he said.
