ABU DHABI // Pupils with special needs are being helped to integrate into the mainstream school system thanks to a range of services and equipment provided to them by Abu Dhabi Education Council.
Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National, reported that Adec has supplied 550 different kinds of services, including special pens, chairs, tables, computers, bags, and 15 kinds of symbol-based communication devices, to the children.
Hana Al Hamdani, head of special needs equipment for Adec, said mainstream schools should make provisions so that physically disabled children can attend.
She said the overall aim was to empower special needs pupils to ensure they attain their educational and social rights.
