In spite of the Dh300,000 a year fees and additional costs that come with being an international student, Adam Adreani is looking forward to embarking on a medical degree at the UK’s Cambridge University. South African-born Adam was always keen to study at an institution with an active research capacity. The Dubai College student scored four A* grades for his A levels and chose the famous UK university so he can follow his dreams of going into medical research.

“There are better opportunities in the UK and also being an Italian national makes it easier to study in the UK,” he said. Though the fees are “astronomical”, this is his dream and he is under no illusions.

“The workload will be crazy. I’m looking forward to the work but I’m not deluded about having so much fun. I know it’s going to be a lot of work.”
