Duo accused of spit and robbery in Sharjah

Two African men have been apprehended for allegedly robbing bank customers in Sharjah after spitting on them.

Police said one of the men would spit on a bank client, then apologise to the victim and start to clean him or her up.

His countryman would then snatch money from the victim before both fled from the scene.

Col Ibrahim Al Ajil, director of Sharjah Criminal Investigation Department, said the men used the trick to rob people after they had withdrawn money.

The duo confessed during interrogations, police said.
