DUBAI // A Singaporean tourist will spend a year in jail after he was found guilty of possessing 200,000 worth of fake Kuwaiti dinars.
Dubai Criminal Court fined the 38-year-old Dh10,000 and ordered his deportation following the completion of his prison term.
The man was arrested on November 30 last year near Al Bustan Shopping Centre after police were tipped off.
He told the arresting officers that he brought the notes from Bangkok and was planning to deliver them to a contact in Dubai in return for US$10,000. In court last February he denied a charge of possessing fake money. However, he was found guilty on Tuesday and jailed.
