Thousands of government workers will benefit from extended discounts offered for Esaad cardholders, Dubai Police has announced.

The green and gold discount card can currently be used at more than 1,400 retailers and service outlets across the UAE.

A mobile app launched in tandem with the discount card in August, offering more than 5,000 special offers and privileges to government staff.

Exclusive reductions are now being offered from six of the partner retailers, giving special online deals.

Cardholders must look up their desired company's products and use the exclusive Esaad special code to activate discounts.

Car service centres, airlines, educational institutions, hotels, healthcare centres, restaurants and parks have so far collaborated with Esaad in a joint online store to offer special rates.
The Esaad card is issued to Dubai police employees, their families, and to workers of many other government and semi-government departments, ministerial and federal entities giving exclusive deals from five to 72 per cent.

“This step comes to meet the cardholders' high demand on online shopping, as most companies display and sell their products via the internet,” said Captain Mona Al Tamimi, head of the Esaad Card Committee.

A bumper month of deals lies ahead for all shoppers as the Dubai Shopping Festival also gets under way in its silver jubilee year.

The annual event launched on December 26 and will run until February 1, with scores of retailers and service providers signed up to take part.

Free concerts at Burj Park in Downtown Dubai signalled the start of the shopping extravaganza at malls and markets across the emirate.

Traditional arts and fare are on offer at Al Seef market at Dubai Creek, while a winter themed shopping festival is taking place at the Last Exit’s Al Khawaneej market near Mushrif Park.

A sports tournament will operate on the sidelines of Al Rigga market in old Dubai, while an open-air cinema is open for visitors to Hatta market to help unwind after a hard day perusing the stalls.
