DUBAI // New road projects in three residential districts of Al Qusais and Al Quoz will be open to traffic and pedestrians over the next few months.

The road projects in Al Qusais 3, Al Quoz 2 (phase 1) and Al Quoz 3 will be launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at a cost of about Dh82million.

"The projects to be accomplished shortly are part of the RTA 5-Year Plan for paving roads in several neighbourhoods across Dubai," said Mattar Al Tayer, executive director of the RTA.

He said the road projects at Qusais 3, spanning an area of 225 hectares, would be ready by the end of the month. The Dh23.21million undertaking includes a 6km pavement stretch, roadside parking, car parks for mosques, a street lighting network of 597 lighting poles and artificial humps to ensure neighbourhood safety.

The next internal roads project will be launched in mid-September in Al Quoz 3. The project comprises an 8 km pavement stretch, local roads, parking slots and utility work.

Work is also under way at Al Qouz 2 (phase 1) and is scheduled to be finished by the end of December

Mr Al Tayer said the plan until 2016 spans 16 districts and the initial Dh150m covered five districts of Hatta, Al Qusais 3, Al Quoz 2, 3 and 4.
