DUBAI // Police have reunited a Sri Lankan father who was jailed over a financial case with his 4-year old daughter.
The girl was left in the care of a Filipino neighbour, who contacted the Human Rights Department at Dubai Police, saying she could not afford to look after the child.
Brigadier Mohammed Al Murr, head of the Human Rights Department, said his department had stepped in to get the girl housed at the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children in February.
Police coordinated with the bank to waive some of the debt, while a charity association paid off the other part.
The father was released and was provided with air tickets for himself and his daughter, plus a sum of money to survive on until he arrived in his home country.
