DUBAI // The Dubai Air Wing has carried out 593 missions so far this year.
According to Al Ittihad, The National's sister publication, 79 of these missions involved transporting victims of traffic accidents to hospitals and 14 involved airlifting patients from one hospital to another, said Lt Col Khalfan Al Mazrouei, head of Dubai Police Air Rescue Section.
The Air Wing also carried out 329 patrols and went on 41 official missions in response to calls made by the Command and Control Room at Dubai Police.
Lt Col Al Mazrouei said finding a suitable landing area is the primary difficulty they face when performing their operations, especially at night.
