The number of passengers using Dubai's Metro has grown by nearly three per cent on last year, new figures show.
Some 103 million people travelled on the Red and Green Lines during the first half of 2018, compared with 100 million in the same period last year.
Officials from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the interchange stations between Red and Green lines proved the busiest, with Burjuman Station leading the way with 6.3 million people, followed by Union Station with 5.4 million.
In total, 66 million passengers used the Red Line while the Green Line accounted for nearly 36.5 million users.
A spokesman for the RTA said they were "striving to enhance the satisfaction of users by providing safe, convenient and reliable transport using all the latest technologies". He added that the rise in passenger numbers was due to the "positive perception" of public transport in the city.
