DUBAI // A teenager who appeared to be trying to kill himself by jumping from the first floor of the Dubai Mall has admitted in court a charge of disturbing the peace.
Police arrested SA, 17, an Emirati, after viewing on Twitter photos of him apparently about to jump. But after questioning police found the boy was merely showing off to three of his friends by walking along the edge of the floor.
The incident happened on the evening of September 6 last year.
He attended the Juvenile Court with his father and admitted a charge of disturbing the peace. “I was just having fun and trying to entertain my friends,” he said.
The next hearing was scheduled for November 26.
