A Dubai expatriate has won first place in a National Geographic Abu Dhabi photography competition that received 80,000 entries from across the Middle East.
Amri Arfianto's dazzling image of a Dubai cityscape will be printed in National Geographic Al Arabiya Magazine. Mr Arfianto also won photography equipment worth US$5000.
The second-place winner was Firos Syed, from Qatar, who photographed a man cycling through a puddle. The third-place winner was Reham Darwish, from Egypt, who photographed whirling Sufi dancers.
The contest, called "Life in motion," received more than twice the entries it received last year.
