A drunk man who barged into the hotel room of three female tourists and tried to kiss one of them has been sentenced to three months in prison.

Dubai Criminal Court heard how the defendant, from Saudi Arabia, was “behaving as if it was his room” as he lunged after his terrified victim.

The incident happened as the women returned to their hotel in Al Barsha after midnight on August 28 this year.

The 21-year-old started making coffee for himself before asking to take a shower with one of the Swedish tourists, 23.

“He was behaving as if it was his room and would not leave when we asked him to,” said one of the women.

“All three of us managed to push him out the door, then locked it,” another of the tourists, 25, said.

The defendant was arrested after the women called police. He later told officers he had been drunk and could not remember what happened.

He was convicted of sexual assault, trespassing and drinking alcohol without a licence. He was ordered to be deported after serving his sentence.
