DUBAI// The Uzbek woman accused of wearing a bomb belt to the Dubai Public prosecution is facing fresh charges of threatening a policewoman.

The misdemeanours court heard that during an encounter between Zulvia Hamraeva, 33, and the Emirati officer M A, 24, in prison, the defendant made a threatening gesture and said she could get her fired from her job.

The policewoman reported the incident and another police officer was assigned to investigate.

When the defendant was questioned about the incident, she at first refused to talk, then started loudly complaining about being interrogated and demanded she be allowed to meet the prison director.

M A said she was intimidated by the defendant’s threats. “She may not be able to have me fired, but I got scared,” said M A.

Hamraeva denied these charges. She is still being trialled for threatening to blow up the Dubai Public Prosecution building and spreading terror on September 1 last year, which she also denies.

The next hearing in this case will be on February 6.
