The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services dealt with 742 incidents over the New Year’s Eve period, a 52 per cent increase on last year.

The corporation’s executive director Khalifa Al Darai said that between 5pm on December 31 and 5am on January 1, ambulance crews dealt with 540 minor injuries, 49 mild injuries, 16 severe injuries and 137 unclassified incidents.

He said that most of the injuries were caused by people fainting, from being pushed or from falling.
