A domestic worker charged with beating an elderly Gulf national in Fujairah has been sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of Dh5,000, followed by deportation.

The defendant denied the assault charge in a hearing that took place on Wednesday.

However, he confessed during investigations after he was shown video footage of him beating up the elderly victim.

The man’s siblings informed police last month that their father had bruises in his body, and a hidden camera was installed in his home after prosecution gave their approval.
