AJMAN // Dh5 million is being spent on expanding Flag Park in Al Jurf area and erecting a memorial monument to fallen servicemen.

The 2,100 square metre park, which opened last year and features a 122-metre-high UAE flag, will be expanded to about 36,000 square metres. It will have no fences, instead being surrounded by a veriety of flowers.

Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, director general of Ajman Municipality, said: “The work has already begun to accomplish the important project, which will be characterised by unfamiliar design as the park will combine simplicity and attractiveness.

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, and Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of the emirate, were briefed on the project’s designs and schemes and directed the need to start working on it, in tribute and honour to the martyrs.”

The memorial monument will be officially opened on Martyrs’ Day on November 30, 2017, the director added.
