ABU DHABI // A man has been sentenced to death for joining a terrorist organisation, the Federal Supreme Court ruled on Mondau.
Yemeni Zayed Yaslam Ali was on trial for joining ISIL and Al Qaeda. He was tried and sentenced in his absence.
Two other Emiratis were also jailed for their involvement with terrorist organisations.
Mohammad Rashid Abdullah Al Yamahi was sentenced to 10 years in prison while Munif Awad Naser Al Hamimi was jailed for two years for operating a web page that promoted the ideology of terrorist groups.
Judge Mohammed Al Tenaiji also ordered that computers, cameras and other items that were recovered from the two men be confiscated.
The website was also shut down.
In another case, M S A, an Emirati, was acquitted of joining the terrorist organisation Al Islah, an affiliate to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood.
