ABU DHABI // Important moments in the UAE’s history will be better preserved after a deal was reached between the National Media Council and the National Archives.

Under the agreement, the National Archives will preserve the audio-visual records of the NMC and the Emirates News Agency (Wam) so they can be accessed by researchers.

The deal was signed at the headquarters of the National Archives in Abu Dhabi by Mansour Al Mansouri, acting director general of the National Media Council, and Dr Abdullah Mohammed Al Raisi, director general of the National Archives.

The NMC has an archive that dates back to 1969 and the Emirates News Agency is the source of much information related to important national events.

The National Archives will offer advisory and training expertise to the NMC on the administrative and technical aspects of documentation, preservation and archiving.
