DUBAI // A British daredevil who has climbed some of the world’s tallest structures claims to have been arrested in Dubai after scaling one of the city’s tallest towers.

James Kingston on Monday told his 6,500 Twitter followers that police arrested him after the climb.

“Just been arrested for climbing Dubai’s second-tallest building let’s hope they let me go, haha,” he posted.

From a photo posted on his Facebook page, it appears he scaled an under-construction tower in Dubai Marina, opposite Mina Seyahi.

Asked by a Facebook friend if he made it to the top, Kingston replied “of course”. Other friends expressed their concern at the news and gave encouragement.

“Gives you a bit of head space to plan your next climb, I suppose,” said one.

Many were keen to see footage of his climb and said they hoped police had not confiscated his video.

Kingston may have climbed several Dubai buildings recently. An Instagram picture posted on Sunday shows him looking down from the top of another building, with the caption: “500ft above Dubai. This place is so awesome.”

It is not clear when he was arrested but he continued to post on social media a couple of hours after his original tweet.

He has posted many videos of climbs up cranes and buildings in recent years and gathered a huge following on his YouTube channel.
