The number of crime reports received by Abu Dhabi Police stations in the capital dropped by 28 per cent last year, according to figures from the Abu Dhabi Directorate's information section.
The number of crime reports in 2010 was 4,618, compared with 6,490 the year before , said Brig Gen Maktoum Ali al Sharifi, the head of the directorate.
Rapid intervention was a determining factor in reducing the number of crime reports, he said, stressing the benefits of awareness campaigns conducted by the police media unit.
