We handed bag in to police station, say men accused of Abu Dhabi theft

ABU DHABI // Three men yesterday denied stealing a bag containing jewellery and Dh5,000 in cash - saying they handed it into a police station.

The men, who are Asian, told the Criminal Court they found the bag next to a rubbish bin and tried to find the owner, but when they could not do so took it to a nearby police station.

They claim they were then arrested for theft.

The bag contained clothes, two watches, a mobile phone, a camera, an mp3 player and Dh5,000.

A verdict is expected on April 15.
