University lecturer, two students charged in methamphetamine case

DUBAI // A university lecturer was charged in the Criminal Court of First Instance with helping two of his students get methamphetamine.

The Filipino lecturer CT, 27, was arrested by anti-narcotics department officers on June 30 at his students' apartment in Bur Dubai.

The two students were referred to the Dubai Juvenile Court to face drug charges. The Filipino BM and his female compatriot, SF, were arrested after narcotics officers received a tip that BM was in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Prosecution records show that a search warrant for BM's house and car was issued on June 30.

Warrant officer MA, 47, told prosecutors that when they raided the house they found the lecturer in the bedroom with SF.

After a search of the bedroom, officers recovered 0.43 grams of crystal meth inside a wallet, records show. BM told officers he was provided the drugs by CT. He denied the charges in court.

Tests showed all three had consumed the drug, and they confessed as much to police, records show.

The court will issue judgment at the end of this month.
