DUBAI // The man who forced a compressed air-hose into the bottom of a fellow cleaner as “a joke” has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Y?M, a 29-year-old from Bangladesh, damaged the colon of 46-year-old Indian P?E when he placed the hose in his rear while they were working in Al Quoz last October.
Despite being fully clothed, the blast of air caused P?E tremendous pain. He screamed and fell to the ground, unable to speak through the pain as his fellow workers gathered around his writhing body.
His supervisors called an ambulance and he was rushed to hospital where, medical reports confirm, he underwent a surgery to remove part of his colon.
He remained in hospital for six days.
Y?M denied a charge of assault, and said he had merely waved the hose in the direction of his colleague's clothes.
Interrogating officer A?H, 32, testified that during interrogation Y?M admitted to forcing the hose into the cleaner's body, but
claimed he meant it only as a joke, not to hurt him.
Y?M will be deported after completing his prison term.
