DUBAI // An Indian cook has been charged with the murder of an Azeri prostitute whom he claimed reneged on a deal to have sex with him twice for Dh200 (US$55). The 49-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment in the Nakheel district of Deira on December 30. A friend of hers stopped by her building and asked the building's Egyptian watchman to see if she was alright.
When he entered her apartment, he found her dead. According to forensic tests, she had been suffocated. First Lt Hussein al Shamsi told the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance that police arrested the accused, AB, after searching for people with related prior convictions, but he did not provide details about the cook's record. The defendant was arrested on January 3 and charged with murder, consensual sex, and theft.
He told police that, after they had sex once, she said she was tired and asked to him to leave, according to Lt al Shamsi. He then asked her to return Dh100, but she refused, and he allegedly suffocated her with a pillow. During a search of AB's house, officers found a chain belonging to the victim, her mobile phone and Dh310 he is accused of stealing from her. The court adjourned the case until next month.
