Police arrest Dubai murder suspect



DUBAI // Dubai Police have arrested the alleged killer of a British woman who was found dead in her flat last Thursday. The arrest was made in cooperation with Interpol in Abu Dhabi and Syrian authorities The victim, a 50-year-old British woman, Maria Esilan, as identified by Dubai Police, worked as a training manager at the Four Points Sheraton hotel. Police investigations revealed that a Syrian man, M A, who the woman was in a relationship with, was the alleged murderer and he had returned to his home country a day after she was killed. It is believed the motive for the murder was the theft of the woman's jewellery. Police also arrested three of the main suspect's friends on suspicion of involvement in the murder. wissa@thenational.ae
