DUBAI // An unemployed man who assaulted police officers and threatened them with a knife was sentenced to a month in prison this morning.
BN, 22, an Emirati, resisted the officers when they came to his house to arrest him on drug charges on June 17, 2010. He was not present in court.
According to records, a Dubai police anti-narcotics captain, AH, and sergeant, MA, were tipped off that BN was trying to sell drugs and approached him through an informant. When the informant started to buy drugs from him, the officers ambushed BN.
But when they tried to arrest him, he locked his car and drove away.
Police chased him to his house in Al Qouz area. But when they attempted to enter the house, he threatened them with a knife and ran inside, records show.
When police finally managed to enter the house an half-hour later, they discovered BN had escaped, records show.
