Man who molested boy, 3, is jailed for five years

A man who molested a three-year-old boy has been jailed for five years.

The child was one of a group driven to their nursery by the Sri Lankan.

The 57-year-old then picked up the child from the nursery before abusing him at his home in Dubai on a undisclosed date in September.

The abuse came to light after the child told his mother he wished he was dead.

“Since he [the defendant] is my maid’s husband and lives in our house, I asked him to drive my son to nursery when I heard he drove other kids,” said the child’s mother, whose age and nationality were not disclosed.

She tried to get her son to tell her if the driver had done anything wrong with him. “But he didn’t tell me anything,” she said.

A few days later she heard her son saying he wished he was dead and that he hated the sofa at their house.

“I asked him why and he told me about the abuse," she said.

"He used simple words ... to tell me how the defendant had abused him," she said.

The man denied charges of sexual assault but was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison.

He will be deported after serving the term.
