DUBAI // A man tried to rape a woman in a lift at International City, a court heard today.
WK, 27, a driver from Pakistan, jumped into the lift just as it was closing before attacking the woman, gagging her, taking off his trousers and trying to rip off her clothes, prosecutors told the Criminal Court.
The woman resisted fiercely and managed to push him out when the lift door opened. He then ran off.
A tenant heard the woman's screams and came to help. The woman gave police a description of the man and he was arrested shortly afterwards.
At the Criminal Court the man denied a charge of attempted rape.
A verdict is expected on February 25.
