The couple's lawyer said the appeals court upheld the one-month prison sentence against the two, named by the British press as Ayman Najafi, 24, a British expat, and tourist Charlotte Lewis, 25. A man has been arrested for adding gunshot sound effects to a video and posting it on TikTok to scare people.

Judges at Dubai Criminal Court were told the Bangladeshi shot the video in an empty car park in Bur Dubai and added sound effects to it to make it look like a crime scene.

The 24-year-old waiter shot the video on January 13. Nobody was seen in the video but he added the sound effects of four gunshots and people running and screaming in panic.

He posted the video on this TikTok account which has 11,400 followers.

More than 2,000 of his followers watched the video.

TikTok is a video-sharing app that allows users to create and share 15-second clips.

He was arrested and the police confiscated his two mobile phones.

The clip was found on both devices.

He admitted to posting the fake video but did not give any reasons for doing so.

“I used built-in filters to make the modifications to the video,” he told judges.

A verdict is expected on April 27.
