DUBAI // A student was sentenced this morning to three months in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy.
The Emirati EK, who is few months older than 18, had denied the charge at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.
But EK, who has been in Al Rashidiya detention center for slightly more than three months, will shortly be released based on time served.
Prosecutors said he sexually assaulted an Egyptian boy in a mosque bathroom on February 10.
The child told prosecutors he had gone with his father to Al Kathem mosque, where his father taught Quran classes.
He said EK approached him while he was playing outside, then followed him to the bathroom later.
A worker at the mosque saw EK following the boy; EK fled when the man intervened and the child was taken to his father, records show.
