DUBAI // A manager who drunkenly groped a waitress had his three-month jail term upheld by the Appeals Court today.
OR, 44, from Denmark, jumped fully-clothed into the swimming pool of the XL Beach resort at the Habtoor Grand Beach Resort & Spa after arriving there drunk with three friends on June 8, 2011.
The group then sat at a table and demanded to be served, despite having been turned away earlier that day due to a lack of reservation. When the manager and the waitress came over to talk to them, the man leant over and groped the woman. The four men were then thrown out of the club by a security guard.
The club's security camera captured the groping on film.
The Criminal Court sentenced the man to three months in prison on a sexual assault charge and fined him Dh2,000 for consuming alcohol. However, it acquitted him on a charge of insulting the waitress.
The Appeals Court yesterday upheld the jail sentence, the fine and the acquittal.
