Dubai court clears three men of kidnap

DUBAI // Three men accused of kidnapping a man and holding him to a Dh200,000 ransom have been acquitted by the Criminal Court.

AR, 32, and AH, 26, both from Afghanistan, and SA, 30, from Pakistan, were accused of kidnapping PK, from India, while he was walking alone in Deira.

The Indian claimed they beat him before kidnapping him in a Toyota Corolla and demanding he pay them the money as compensation for money they had lent to one of his friends.

He said they drove him to a house in Rashidiya where they made him call his wife and ask for the money and that he was freed after she tipped off police.

However, the court cleared them of all charges.
