DUBAI // A cleaner who molested a six-year-old girl in a restaurant toilet when she went to check her wobbly tooth, has been sentenced to one year in jail.
In the Criminal Court, AA, 27, from Bangladesh, had denied a charge of forceful sexual assault of a minor, but he was convicted after investigators matched his DNA to samples collected from the girl. He will be deported after serving his jail term.
The attack took place on May 25 this year when the girl's family was eating at a restaurant in Jumeirah. The girl excused herself from the table and her father walked her to the toilet so she could check on her tooth.
Five minutes later the father asked his wife to check on the girl and as she went to do so the girl returned looking very pale.
"I asked her if she managed to see her tooth but she said no because the mirror was too high and then I heard her whispering to her mother that a man at the toilet touched her private area," recalled the father, 37, from Jordan.
The father then checked the toilet and found the cleaner. The girl identified the cleaner as the man who carried out the attack and the father informed police.
