Abu Dhabi // A man convicted of posing as a Criminal Investigation Department officer so he could molest a 15-year-old boy was sentenced to one year in prison yesterday.
SF and JF, both Emiratis in their 20s, were initially charged with rape and impersonating CID officers. They were both found guilty of the impersonation charges but JF was acquitted of rape. Both had pleaded not guilty. The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced SF to one year in jail for both offences and JF to three months.
The victim told the court in the last hearing that JF never claimed he was a CID officer. "Only [SF] told me he was from the CID," the victim, told the court then. The victim, an Emirati, told prosecutors he was standing in front of his house with his cousin at 2.30am when a car stopped nearby. Two men inside the vehicle said they were CID officers, asked the victim why he was out at a late hour and told him to show his identification card.
When the teenagers said they did not have any, the men told them to come with them to the police station. Instead, the teenagers were taken to a deserted area. One of the boys was taken from the car while the other was assaulted before they were both driven back to the house.
