DUBAI // A Chinese trader attacked three police officers while in custody and almost killed one, a court heard yesterday.
Yesterday at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance HV, 47, denied attempted murder but admitted assaulting a police corporal and sergeant. He also admitted destroying a finger print collection device worth Dh12,700.
Records show that on August 4, 2010, HV was taken to a rest-room in Al Qusais police station.
"I heard the commotion and raced inside the toilet to find the lieutenant and the corporal bleeding on the ground," the sergeant said.
HV tried to kick him but fell and the sharp toilet cover cut his hand, records show. At that point, officers brought him under control.
The court will issue a verdict on June 28.
