The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution ordered the incarceration of an Omani man and an Uzbek woman, the former for smuggling a person into the country using a forged document, and the latter for illegally entering the country and returning after deportation.
The man was caught at the Hili Port Customs in Al Ain City where he claimed that the woman accompanying him into the country was his wife and produced her ID. However, their scheme was discovered once a female employee found out that the woman did not match the description on her ID.
During the investigation, the man confessed that he had met the woman next to a hotel in Al Buraimi and had agreed to smuggle her into the UAE for US$5,500, and that he produced his wife’s passport to the customs employee along with a forged document. The woman admitted that she attempted to enter the country illegally and was trying to return after deportation.
