DUBAI // A cook stabbed his roommate to death because he had molested him and his girlfriend, Dubai Criminal Court was told on Sunday.
On December 19 last year, the Nepalese accused, 29, and friends threw a party at their labour accommodation in Ras Al Khor.
Police said that during the party the roommate, a waiter, sexually harassed the cook’s girlfriend.
“The defendant told us he pushed the deceased in to the room to keep him away from his girlfriend then the waiter molested him,” said a police officer. “So he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed the man repeatedly.”
The officer said the cook locked the body in the room and threw away the key before washing his bloodied clothes.
“We received a report of a body from the accommodation’s security guard, who said he was called in by an Indian roommate to open the deceased’s room after he missed work,” the policeman said.
The defendant denied a charge of murder. The next hearing has been scheduled for May 17.
