Staff Profile: Christopher Pike

The National staff photographer Christopher Pike was raised by Trinidadian parents and bounced around the Caribbean, Europe and Canada exploring his photography. He was named photographer of the year in 2004 at Loyalist College, covered two Olympic games and spent two years documenting the Canadian prairies as a staff photographer.

In 2007 he relocated to Ottawa, the nations capital and freelanced for national and international editorial clients including: Toronto Star, Globe & Mail, Macleans, Reuters, Getty Images and Xinhua, among others.

Christopher was selected for the prestigious Eddie Adams Barnstorm Workshop where he received the Epson Performance Award. Chris has been a member of the Rogue Collective since 2010 and has been a staff photographer with The National since December 2011.

Christopher's personal work entitled 'Majlis al Jinn: Gathering Place of Spirits' will be featured at Gulf Photo Plus' Slidefest on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Dubai. The work chronicles the adventures and experiences of the Middle East Caving and Expeditionary Team (MECET), who have been descending elaborate cave systems throughout the Arabian peninsula over the course of the previous 12 months.
