Photography at its most basic is about capturing light. While this is a very basic and obvious statement, the variables and possibilities that lay within it are endless.
Photographers on each shoot are looking at where the light is coming from, where the shadows fall, making decisions about which part of the frame to expose, while all the time moving subjects and other elements around within the picture to bring it all together.
With this image staff photographer Delores Johnson took it right back to that most basic level and captured the light as it shone through stained glass in Abu Dhabi's Central Market. The lack of almost all other details really plays up the delicacy of the shades andpatterns in that light.
