I’m a student of motorsport history and the photography that captured that bygone era, so this image by staff photographer Pawan Singh felt instantly familiar to me.
The subject standing with flag in hand, sporting a laboratory-style coat and large sunglasses, evokes a time of dirt-track racing in the 1950s.
In reality, we’re seeing the Meydan staff looking for a perfectly groomed track ahead of the day’s horse races.
