Focal point: Making the grade

Surrounded as we are in this country by the tallest buildings in the world, a sense of height is pretty easy to achieve. Here, though, staff photographer Razan Alzayani has managed to bring a sense of height to the smallest of structures. The low angle does some of the work, but it’s the lines of the railings crossing over each other and the central figure slowly making his way up that lead your eyes higher in the frame. Even the grey sky that seems to replicate the colour of the metal in the bridge allows the rail and our central figure to really stand out.
