In the UAE, camels are historically known for their social and economic value – they’re a dependable source of food and transport. They’re also famously known as the “ships of the desert”, because of their ability to walk long distances in arid desert terrain. Today, camels are mostly used for racing, but are also, as seen in this photo taken by staff photographer Satish Kumar, an experience for tourists at this beach in Ajman.
