I cannot believe my first month at The National has already passed. It has been going really well.
I would say settling in the first week was the hardest. Having the flu (my son and I), moving to Abu Dhabi, and just trying to cope with the new job highlighted my first week. It was tough, but I managed to live it up.
The following weeks went smoothly, especially as I learned the ropes of my new job.
A new article has been published. It took quite a while to put it together, and involved four interviews. Choosing the right words and knowing what readers would want was a little bit of a challenge. I was afraid I might miss some important information.
But my mentor gave me her thoughts and actually liked it.
Getting feedback from family and friends is the cherry on top. It really makes you feel that you are heard and recognised. It actually makes you push yourself even more and believe "You can do it".
I accepted an assignment to cover an animal sanctuary, although I am not an animal person. I freak out from a bee; how about a Husky dog! The truth is, the people at the sanctuary were kind enough to lock him up. Still I had to walk around little puppies and cats. Yay me!
